Trading platform

After our team of traders tested the Moneta Markets WebTrader Platform, we have concluded that it is well designed and easy to use, targeting newcomers to online trading. British customers can easily open/close/monitor deals, create watchlists, use over 45 technical indicators, and display six types of charts. Beginners will find these tools to be exactly what they need to start trading comfortably. Also, traders will appreciate the fact that they can check on their positions and trade anywhere from their devices with the Apple AppStore and Google PlayStore apps.

However, third party software, such as MetaTrader 4 (MT4), that gives clients more technical analysis tools and customizability is not available. Thus, more skilled traders that work with complex instruments might be put away by the fact that they don’t have access to advanced tools. In addition, with this online broker automated trading is not possible due to account security concerns.

Moneta Markets offers its clients access to the following order types:

  • Limit
  • Market
  • Take profit
  • Stop loss

Investment Products Portfolio

moneta currency pairs

Moneta Markets has an investment products portfolio of over 300 CFDs, including over 45 currency pairs, 15 indices, 6 cryptocurrencies, 15 commodities, and over 185 stocks. The tradable assets cover a wide range of top markets, such as: Hong Kong, Australia, UK, US, European top-tier countries, and New Zeeland.

This online broker offers different leverage levels for its clients, according to the asset class of the CFD:

  • Forex up to 500:1
  • Indices up to 200:1
  • Commodities up to 100:1
  • Stock up to 20:1
  • Cryptocurrencies up to 5:1

The high margin trading offered by Moneta is a strong advantage that makes this online broker stand out from its competitors. Moreover, the wide variety of available tradable assets helps clients to keep a more diversified portfolio, and thus, to reduce the overall risks of their investments.

Bonuses

A feature that makes Moneta Markets stick out from other trading brokers is the 50% bonus that is offered to clients that deposit at least USD 500. This is good extra capital that can help traders to get involved in more trades or increase their positions. However, it is good to know that the bonus is cancelled if the funds are withdrawn immediately. In addition, traders should be aware that this benefit is eligible only for selected jurisdictions.

Moneta Fees and Commissions

Trading fees

Trading fees are expenses that are related to the trading activity. They can come in the form of commissions, spreads, conversion fees, and finance rates. Moneta Markets has no information disclosed on its platform regarding its trading fees.

After effectively trading on Moneta Markets, our team of traders could not find any information about the trading fees. Keeping this in mind, this online broker has an opaque cost structure. However, being part of Vantage International Group should give any client the comfort of being fairly informed about any costs before making a trade.

Non-trading fees

Non-trading fees can be summarised as costs that are not directly connected to the trading activity, such as a withdrawal fee or inactivity fee. Moneta Markets is one of the few online brokers that doesn’t charge any non-trading fees.

Licensing and security

Moneta Markets is regulated by the following financial regulators:

  • Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA)
  • Financial Conduct Authority (FCA
  • Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) – indirectly through its owner company, Vantage International Group

Being regulated mainly by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) does not provide traders with any account protection in case of bankruptcy. However, being a subsidiary of the Vantage International Group gives Moneta the needed capital and expertise to avoid having these issues. In addition, the client’s funds are being kept in segregated trading accounts within the National Australia Bank.

Even though Moneta Markets is a new online broker, being established in 2018, the holding company, Vantage International Group, is in this business line for over ten years, since 2009. This gives the platform the legitimacy and level of trust that comforts any trader.

Research tools

Moneta Markets offers good research tools for newcomers to the financial trading industry. The proprietary WebTrader platform allows traders to use basic financial indicators, such as dividend yield, beta, EPS, and P/E. Also, customers can choose from a range of 6 charts with over 45 technical indicators available

Beginner traders will appreciate the client sentiment indicator. This will aid them in making a more informed decision (sell/buy/hold) by looking at what other traders feel about a financial instrument. Though, this indicator can be biased in some instances, as there might be not enough traders that express their view on a specific instrument, and thus it can be misleading.

Educational Resources

Educational resources offered by Moneta Markets are impressive for such a new online broker, as they easily overtake other more established companies, such as eToro. The demo account is the most basic way to get familiar with the platform and with financial instruments, and traders can use it for 30 days before they must either go live or close it.

Also, there is a ‘Market Masters’ online video tutorial available for beginners, where they can learn the basics in market instruments, technical chart patterns, Fibonacci techniques, and financial analysis.

Clients that deposit at least 500 units of their base currency have access to the following exclusive features in the Trading central/web Trader platform:

  1. Featured ideas – privileged access to fundamental and technical trading ideas based on proven strategies
  2. Market buzz – news service covering over 35000 tradable assets, such as stocks, currencies, and indices
  3. Web TV – live stream straight from the NYSE trading floor, with all the important trade ideas discussed and analysed
  4. Moneta TV – financial news from around the world
